Tattoo’d on her wrist is the Korean—she’s from Korea—word for “time.” I was standing in line for food with her the other day when she explained it to me. The smell of the grill and the impatience of the customers greased our pores and teased our nostrils. The tattoo, she said, was gotten when she was going to break up with her boyfriend, but they decided that time is what they needed to get things back together.
It’s only 2:00 but it’s raining.
